Most of the Cape May County listings we sampled (8 of 15) had already been pushed back at least once, which is why the date on the list is often not the final date. Homeowners can confirm the current date on the official list and review their options below.
Scheduled sales, not completed ones; the adjournment share comes from a small sample. The county's list is the authority for any single sale.

Cape May County's sale schedule is on CivilView, which is the most reliable place to see when a property is set to be auctioned. The sheriff's conditions of sale (deposit, accepted payment and closing deadline) were not readable to us, and we do not fill gaps with guesses. Call the Sheriff's Office at Cape May Court House for them.
From the county's official sheriff pages, read September 30, 2026. Terms change; confirm with the sheriff's office.

Cape May County's docket is unlike anywhere else in New Jersey: a huge share of its housing is seasonal — second homes and rentals from Ocean City to Wildwood to the Cape — while year-round households live on tourism incomes that swing hard between July and January. The courthouse sits in Cape May Court House, and the county's cases split between primary residences with full statutory protections and second homes where parts of the owner-occupant toolkit (like mediation eligibility) do not apply.
Cape May's market is heavily seasonal, with many second homes and rentals, which affects how quickly a home can be sold before a sale date. If your sale is close, ask the sheriff's office about a statutory adjournment first, then use the time on a listing, a cash sale or a lender review that can finish inside it.
Until the auction, and for the short redemption window after it, reinstating, selling the home or a Chapter 13 filing can still change the outcome. Never pay anyone to postpone it for you.
Free statewide options that serve the county: NJ Courts Foreclosure Mediation Program, Legal Services of New Jersey, HUD-Approved Housing Counselors and Navicore Solutions. None of them pays us.
