66 of 70 listings were brought by banks, mortgage servicers or loan trustees; 3 by condominium or homeowners associations.

Most of the Hudson County listings we sampled (10 of 15) had already been pushed back at least once, which is why the date on the list is often not the final date. Homeowners can confirm the current date on the official list and review their options below.

Scheduled sales, not completed ones; the adjournment share comes from a small sample. The county's list is the authority for any single sale.

Foreclosure in Hudson County: what's different here

Hudson County is New Jersey at its most crowded: Jersey City, Union City, West New York, Hoboken, and North Bergen stack condos, brownstones, and multi-family walk-ups onto the smallest county footprint in the state. Foreclosure here has a split personality — a waterfront condo owner whose value climbed for a decade sits in the same court queue as a longtime owner of a Bayonne or Kearny two-family. Cases run through the Superior Court in Jersey City, and the sheriff's foreclosure unit works out of Hudson Plaza on Cornelison Avenue, a short ride from some of the most expensive blocks in the state.

If it's your home on the Hudson County list

Hudson's rules say the buyer cannot pay the balance during the first 10 days after the sale, which is the owner's window to redeem. Sales still running at 4:30 p.m. can be pushed to the next sale date, and CWPP pre-registration opens the Monday before each sale.

Until the auction, and for the short redemption window after it, reinstating, selling the home or a Chapter 13 filing can still change the outcome. Never pay anyone to postpone it for you.
